French leather goods house Maison Joseph Duclos unveiled today two new handbag silhouettes: the Fontélie Cabas and the Mini Fontélie.
The introduction broadens the Maison’s Fontélie collection, which is inspired by the historic patent letters granted to the original Joseph Duclos tannery by King Louis XV in 1754 and represents the codes of folded documents, ancient craftsmanship and official seals, as seen through the collection’s signature clasp that draws from the imprint of the royal seal. The two styles also tie into the collection’s inside-out construction techniques and purist approach to lines, technical precision and softness of form.

“I wanted to extend the Fontélie family with a casual-chic take on the soft envelope and wax-seal design elements. The Fontélie Cabas and Mini Fontélie are crafted to the same high standards as the Fontélie bag,” creative director Ramesh Nair said in a statement.

The Fontélie Cabas, available in gray concerto and taupe leather, was designed as a modern take on the everyday tote, with its lightweight yet sturdy form. The brand also noted the style is the Maison’s sole unstructured bag and gives consumers the versatility to carry from personal travels to the boardroom. Meanwhile, the Mini Fontélie is a more compact and mobile-size Concerto leather handbag, and is available in hues of gray, blue and yellow.
The styles sit within the Fontélie collection’s price range of approximately $5,000 and will be available to shop at the brand’s Paris flagship, Hong Kong boutique and online.
