MANDELLO del LARIO, Italy — High-end industrial furniture and interior design conglomerate Molteni Group has infused its vision into Italy’s latest landmark dedicated to motorcycles.
On Wednesday, the family-run company known for its sleek furnishings and kitchens unveiled its contribution to Moto Guzzi’s historic Mandello del Lario headquarters and public-facing industrial and cultural hub, all of which were designed by U.S.-based architect Greg Lynn. Built on the edge of Italy’s Lecco lake and at the foot of the Alps, the brand-new space brings together the factory, museum, archives, events and hospitality areas.
UniFor, the Molteni Group-owned business that specializes in architectural and workplace systems, played an integral role in the project with a fully bespoke, flexible exhibition system for the new museum, including custom motorcycle platforms, plinths, vitrines and archive displays. Its X shelving and CF systems were incorporated to support helmets and historical materials, while metal, aluminum and cement-resin finishes echoed Moto Guzzi’s technical, industrial identity. UniFor also furnished the café, shop, operational offices, photographic archives and prototype-storage spaces.

The museum’s exhibition includes a collection of 160 motorcycles, including models adopted by the Italian police force and the armed forces. The display also includes globally recognized models like the V850 Eldorado featured in the 1976 film “Starsky & Hutch” and older ones like the Sport 15 500, which was created in the 1930s and was the first motorcycle to feature a saddle tank.
Lynn, renowned globally for his expertise in advanced technologies like robotics, told WWD that his design of both the outside and the interiors was inspired by motorcycle mechanics and parts like the cylinder and the wheel. His ultimate goal was to honor the craftsmanship and artisanship infused in each Moto Guzzi motorcycle. “I think the legacy of craft makes people more aware and makes this a place they would like to visit whether they are fans of the brand or not.”
